- Without literature background, it will be quite hard to understand. I have read this book twice and I would say the first experience is an half-understanding one. But the book's idea is very simple and easy to understand whatever the literature background you have: women can do whatever they like and they will do it well.

- The book is about one thing: how a woman can write (or more importantly live, or exist) without an eye always looking to the other sex, that is, "independence." - 伍尔夫身上有着女性主义者常有的标签:清醒、理性、现实,她用漫不经心的语调写了这一本看似是建议想成为作家的女性到底要准备什么,实则剥开冷冰冰的现实下一层层的两性不平等告诫她们:做梦呢吧!信息量之大,以至于后来的学者,从书里随便挑一句话就能作为一个课题的开始。

- 虽然只有短短的几篇内容,但是自己在把握大意上还是有些问题,或许是,内容本身也相对松散吧。不过我对女权相关的内容一直兴趣不高,所以她强调的话题我只能感受她本人的一种志气,我并不喜欢以这种散文的方式谈。这种慵懒的气质倒是蛮可爱的。

- 8、9年后重读了原版,这次关注点已经悄然从fiction变成了women。把社交账号的名字都改为了Aphra-第一个女性剧作家的名字。从feminism的角度说,就很欣赏Woolf不借助任何theory的资源,单凭借观察且用日常语言就能清晰地表达出真实的inequality的能力(我不是说theory不好,但theory一定是有是folk的风险而且只能面向一部分人)。另外就非常欣赏文笔了,读了一堆词藻堆砌的学术书再来读Woolf清澈的英语难免有如浴春风之感。想读更多了。

- 文辞优美,观点有力,但是这个风格太絮叨飘逸了,跟不上思路,时常分心,感觉怎么也读不完.....
- 最让我感动的一个是作者对aesthetic integrity of novel的坚持,另一个其实是贯穿全书的对前辈女性作家们的批评与告白。伍尔夫的文字基调非常中肯而真挚,做文学批评的时候不留情面,但是在最后一定会结合女性地位、心态、不友善的社会环境等等写回到女作家一直以来经历的相较于男性的百倍困难,因此写作本身就是一种成就。在讲到Mary Carmichael的时候,作者写"All that you will have to explore, I said to Mary Carmichael, holding your torch firm in your hand." 读到的一刻简直热泪盈眶。这种细腻、诚恳又坚定的文字能够带给读者的共鸣和光,真是难以替代。
- 很喜欢作者抽丝剥茧的分析女性要写作(从事任何专业性工作)的条件,并分析了隐形的mental responsibility,想扣半颗星因为语言略啰嗦
- 意识流小说太美妙了!伍尔芙的文字感染力太强了,优美的描写,娓娓道来的说理,时而的俏皮,一本书爱上伍尔芙! 再说到书,以女性作家为主题,说需要钱还需要独立的空间,这其实对任何想要有所成就的女性来说都是在追求的或者已经拥有的。物质上的独立加精神上的思考能力足以成就一个人。 可是哪来的精神独立,只有极少数的人能像伍尔芙这样幸运,每年有从天而降的五百磅,所以她只是根据自己的经验和知识提出了一个结论。大多数的我们还是要保持精神独立,然后努力在物质上也不扯后腿。
