- A tour de force that put me right back in the center of the financial world during the 80s.
- "I recommended Sun-tzu, an ancient Chinese war genius, to one of my Prussian colleagues, and he looks at me with suspicion, as if I were going to fool him into believing that a Chinaman knew something about war"----9. The Art of War
- Easy read. Enjoyable.
You can do better than these Big Swinging Dicks
- great book!
- Michael Lewis is a good story teller.
- Fucking awesome!
- I don’t see how it’s different now
- My first audible book, which turned out to be read by the author himself. It's a vivid portrayal of 1980s sales & trading and well worth reading for entmt. I believe what the book describes hasn't changed much and maybe won't ever. "Fear and greed" remain the deepest themes, but luckily people can choose "never leave or stay because of money".
- Quite entertaining
- Pick up English~ LOL
- pretty classic and hilarious, absolutely alive, from a standpoint of an art history and economics graduate from LSE, delineated the distorted culture of western financial world; bluffing and deception, pretentious with gluttony, and outrageous fortune; mind blasting anyway, lol.
- an all time classic.. a vivid description of the greedy 80s for starters.. history repeates itself. vulgary but funny.
- Start the new year with a Michael Lewis. Hilarious reflections of his days as a Salomon Brothers' equity salesman. A wide range of issues have been covered, from the management of particular investment banks, inside history of Salomon Brothers, to the market developments as well as reflections on the ethics of the financial industry.
- It basically feels like reading some sort of history--the mortgage bond and rate swap in making that will later explode the whole Wall Street in 2008. Witty and vivid account; yet the author tried a bit too hard making his points over and over and over again throughout the whole book with a bit too much financial terminology 101.
- Rich assholes
- "The analyst doesn't analyze anything. "
- A good laugh
- Fun book with deep insight in 80's investment banking. A page-turner.
- not bad
- Page turner to be turned again.
- The best decisions one has made in his life were completely unexpected, the ones that cut against convention.
- an amusement reading. "In the midst of the hysteria I was suitably hysterical" 不要狡辩了!
- Good story teller.
- Narrative non-fiction, but a totally different style from Peter Hessler. The world of high finance is again but a farce of calculation, greed, bully and indecency in language, with kindness far and few between. That is the real world, so to speak. Great power of money brings about the freedom to utter whatever on one's mind, I suppose.
- It is a good book, especially about the history of the 1980s of wall street. What attracts me is the description of how CMO got created by the traders of the Brothers and how it influenced the bank and the whole wall street. And the book shed some more light on the bond market which is more fascinating than stock market. Wish I could learn more.
- Interesting....
- Lewis
a devastatingly funny page turner.
- big swing dick lol
- Exploit the two elements of human nature - greed and fear.
- Everyone sees what you seem to be, few know what you really are; and those few do not dare take a stand against the general opinion.
- Exciting!
- Just for fun.
- Interesting narratives of 80s Wall St.
