- Theodore J. Forstmann:“you make me fucking sick”
- M&A, deals, junk bonds, 1980s
The casino society reappears from time to time. Winning may be celebrated, yet it has nothing to do with the real business.
- A great tide that left money flowing but nothing much else. Egos and cut-throat competition on Wall Street. A well-documented narrative of one of history's largest LBO with implications on numerous areas of the economy: corporate management, the use of financial instruments, the stability of high leverage financial operations...#firstblood#
- When everyone comes piling into a market that they don't fully understand, the financial market always overshoot. The barbarians are out there just beyond the gate, licking their wounds, biding their time waiting for their next chance to storm the gates.
- this could be the best non-fiction i have ever read...
Why did these people care so much about what came out of their computers and so little about what came out of their factories?
You couldn't make this stuff up.
- Too much detail
- You see people are capable of all kinds of things.
- the three rules of wall street:never play by the rules.never pay in cash.and never tell the truth???
- leveraged Buy-out; the largest and most dramatic corporate takeover in American history;想看的杠杆运作居然能省的都给省了,通篇都在讲人性贪婪与权力斗争,可惜残酷程度比起官场小说来还差了一点。
- 螳螂捕蝉 黄雀在后的WallStreet version,看到第15章我已经不得不翻回看人名属于哪个公司的,如同一场大混战,果然是barbarians at the gate, wrestling with each other in this M&A game
- detailed story about LBO
- Sometimes ego, pride, rankings, and even the left or right side of a tombstone matters more to the people deeply involved in the transactions than the benefits to shareholders and employees who should be the focus of a deal. The irony of Wall Street.
- what do you feel when you know that you are spending life to work for people like these?
- Skip all those lengthy anecdotes which you will all forget later anyways. You won’t have a problem reading 1/3 of the book and still getting the gist of the plot.
- As juicy as a novel. And there's toooo much to learn about LBO :( In this world maybe "junk" is king. (ps: the names r a little tricky.....
- epic fight
- A page turner about LBO. Lots of love to Prof. Bonnie A. Teller.
Who won?" "The shareholders".
